BTAW 2008

Please join the Brain Tumor Action Network, along with brain tumor patients and their families, and other members of the The North American Brain Tumor Coalition (NABTC) on May 5 and 6 in Washington, D.C. for Brain Tumor Action Week.

  • Advocacy Education Day:

    Click here for map.Attendees will hear presentations from brain tumor researchers, officials responsible for managing the brain tumor research effort at the National Institutes of Health, and other advocates. Educational presentations will help advocates prepare for a day of visits with your representatives on May 6, which will be scheduled for registered advocates.
  • Scheduled Visits with your Representatives and Senators: May 6, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Registered attendees will have scheduled visits on May 6 with their Representatives and Senators. For the sake of efficiency, you may be scheduled to meet your legislators along with other Brain Tumor Action Week Attendees from your state.

Topics to be discussed with your legislators include:

  • Increasing federal funding to strengthen and extend brain tumor research programs and develop better therapies– despite the current efforts of researchers, the prognosis for brain tumor patients has not improved significantly in the last 20 years.
  • Elimination of the two-year Medicare waiting period for brain tumor patients.

If you are not able to join us in Washington D.C., you may be able to sponsor a local event. Many organizations and individuals sponsor events in their local area timed to correspond with Brain Tumor Action Week.

We encourage you to persuade your local and state elected officials to issue a proclamation for Brain Tumor Action Week. Click here to see a sample proclamation.
