Advocacy

Become an advocate for the brain tumor community.

Solving the problem of brain tumors and their effects is a complex task. Of course, scientists are on the cutting edge of this effort, providing doctors with new and improved tools to attack the tumors and help the patients.

There are numerous challenges in the larger brain tumor problem. Access to new therapies, lack of medical coverage to pay for proper treatment, lack of research funding, scientific collaboration deficiencies, rehabilitation shortcomings and discrimination are just a few of these. Many of the problems facing brain tumor patients can be addressed by an enthusiastic, vocal, supportive community.

There are as many ways to be an advocate as there are advocates. Once you’ve decided that you want to take part in the fight against this terrible disease, it is important to evaluate your skill and determine how you can best be a brain tumor advocate. You should also be aware of the most important challenges facing the community and decide where your efforts will be best spent. We’d all like to discover a cure and that would be great for the community, but there are few who are qualified to take on such a task.
