Cindi Rixey Scott is a 1969 graduate of American University in Washington, DC. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Marshall Islands from 1969 to 1971 teaching English as a second language. In 1979 she received dual degrees from the University of Denver in Jurisprudence and Masters of Law Librarianship. She was admitted to practice law in Colorado in 1980. She is a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives, the Federal Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association and Colorado Women’s Bar Association. In November 1999, Cindi was diagnosed with a right cavernous sinus meningioma encasing the carotid artery for which she had gamma knife radiosurgery December 28, 1999 at the Rocky Mountain Gamma Knife Center. She has had stable MRIs since that time. Cindi is active in the brain tumor community through her attendance at conferences and participation in online support groups sponsored by THE Brain Trust and The Meningioma Mommas. She is a member of the brain tumor support group sponsored by the University of Colorado Hospital. She is the parent of two adult daughters, Liesel and Casey. Cindi currently serves on the Board of the North American Brain Tumor Coalition representing THE Brain Trust.
